Patrick Ness’s ‘A Monster Calls’ tells the story of a boy coming to terms with his mother’s battle against cancer. Naturally, it’s in the Library along with his other excellent novels ‘Monsters of Men’, ‘The Knife of Never Letting Go’ and ‘The Ask And The Answer’.

We are all aware of the History Channel, but you should check out the History and Classical Studies page of this blog for details of some great history sites available on YouTube.  American Studies students should have a look at Smithsonian Videos which includes ‘Civil War 150’.  Have a look too at ‘Adventures in American History’ and the ‘US National Archives’ where you will find primary sources.  Yad Vashem is Israel’s memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. ‘ World History and Other Stuff’ and ‘HipHughes History’ cover a wide range of historical topics.
